Microsoft Word 2000 & 2002 (XP)
Automatically Resize a Word Table

Description

In Microsoft Word, when you insert a new table it is sized to fit between your left and right margins.  However, if you later change your margins the table does not automatically adjust to the new margins.  Now in Word 2000 and Word 2002 (XP) you can turn on an command to automatically resize your Word table as you make adjustments to your margins.

Microsoft Word

  • Click your mouse anywhere within the Word table

    • This will place your insertion point in the table

  • Menu Path

    • Click on the Table menu

    • Select the AutoFit command

    • Click the AutoFit to Window sub-command

      • The table width will automatically shrink or expand if you later change the document's margins
