Jazz Up Your Text

Description

Want to make your Microsoft Word documents look more interesting and fun to read?  In this lesson you will learn how to jazz up your text using WordArt, text borders, text orientation within a text box and special effects.

WordArt      

  • Drawing Toolbar

    • Click the Insert WordArt button 

  • WordArt Gallery Dialog Box

    • Single click to select a style

    • Click the OK button

  • Edit WordArt Text Dialog Box

    • Type your text

    • Click the OK button

  • In the Word Document

    • Single click the WordArt object to select it

    • The WordArt toolbar will display

      • If the toolbar is not displayed, then

        • Click on the View menu

        • Click the Toolbars command

        • Click the Drawing subcommand

    • Use the WordArt toolbar to add special effects such as shape, text wrapping, same letter height, vertical text, alignment and character spacing

Text Borders   

  • In Microsoft Word

    • Type and then select your text

  • Menu Path

    • Click on the Format menu

    • Click the Borders and Shading Command

  • Borders and Shading Dialog Box

    • Click on the Borders tab

    • Select a border Setting

    • Click to select the border Style, Color and Weight

    • Click the OK button

Orientation within a Text Box   

  • Drawing Toolbar

    • Click on the Text Box button 

  • In the Word Document

    • The mouse pointer will change into a black plus sign

    • Depress your left mouse button and drag to draw the text box

    • Type then select the text within the box

  • Menu Path

    • Click the Format menu

    • Click the Text Direction command

    • Select the Orientation

    • Click the OK button

Text Special Effects

  • In the Word Document

    • Type then select your text

  • Menu Path

    • Click on the Format menu

    • Click the Font command

  • Font Dialog Box

    • Click on the Font tab

    • Click a check box to select a special effect

    • Click the OK button
