Microsoft Outlook
Quickly Delete Email Messages

Description

When deleting email messages from a Microsoft Outlook folder, the messages are automatically moved to the Deleted Items folder.  Messages will remain in the Outlook Deleted Items folder until you empty the folder.

If you are sure that you want to permanently delete a message and do not want to move it to the Deleted Items folder, then follow the steps below.

Microsoft Outlook

  • Select the messages that you wish to permanently delete

    • To select adjacent messages, click the first message then hold down the <Shift> key and click the last message

    • To select nonadjacent messages, click the first message then hold down the <Ctrl> key and click additional messages

    • To select all messages in the folder, depress the <Ctrl> + <A> keys

  • Depress the <Shift> + <Delete> keys on the keyboard

    • The selected messages will be deleted and will not be moved to the Deleted Items folder
