Microsoft Excel
Adjust All Column Widths

Description

Frequently when you create a Microsoft Excel worksheet you end up with text in some columns overflowing to the next column.  Or, your columns may be too narrow to contain large numbers.  Below is a short and easy way to adjust the widths for all columns in a Microsoft Excel worksheet.

In Microsoft Excel

  • Click the Select All button

    • Located in the upper left corner of the Excel worksheet

  • Position your mouse on the border between any two column letter labels

    • Double click your mouse when it looks like the double arrow with a vertical line

  • Microsoft Excel will perform a "best fit"

    • It will find the longest item in each column and adjust each column to that width
